LESSON ABOUT LOVE.

The year is about to change, and I’m here watching the fireworks from my window and hoping for the northern lights to dance. I’m not into New Year’s Eve celebrations or anything like that. I like being like this—staying at home, doing nothing but ruminating about life.

If I can talk about this year, I’ve learned that love is not just about loving—but also about keeping a balance between wanting to hold on to the one we love and letting them be free. I mean, we’re not supposed to make the one we love feel imprisoned by our love—it’s supposed to make them fly wherever they want to go, and to have faith that this person, whom we love with all our heart, will always come back to us. We have to let them chase their dreams and support them. We can’t be selfish by saying, “What about me?” when this person wants to roam around the world.

To love is to let love be free

Let them live their dreams. Do something to help make the dreams of your loved one come true. Stand by their side—make them feel that they’re not alone. Be their stairs instead of their walls. Be gentle, and be the place they can rest when they need somewhere to go.

Yeah, I know it’s not easy—because when we’re really in love with someone, the feeling consumes us—we can become so illogically possessive. But we don’t want to make that person whom we love sad—so even though it’s hard, we have to let them fly.

To a new year that’s coming ahead—let love be free.

Love,

Althea Dawn.
