those blue eyes will be forever closed
and my messages will remain unread
now
an empty messenger inbox
notifications will stay silent
i sit here
looking at your pictures
some of your friends leave a heart emoji
others leave a broken one
but i leave you an apology
and a poem i wrote to celebrate you
my eyes refuse to stay dry
slowly pulling out the piece of a poem
we wrote together
we were like two kids in a candy shop
when we were playing with words
now i’m just a girl with no playground
i still want to talk about murakami’s books
and hear you ask me about your next escape trip destination
or listen to your rambling about how complicated my poem is
trembling hands
longing for your words
farewell
i’ll keep your name
in the corner of my lungs
until i can read your words again
no storm can reach you now
and loneliness is no longer yours to fight—
you’ve found your eternity
